The first American Civil War title I got to the table is Clash of Giants: Civil War. A brigade level, chit pull battle game, it recreates the meeting engagements of Second Bull Run and Gettysburg and features clever design elements that simulates fog of war and command control. Order of activations provide tension in whether the player can bring their forces to bear for attacks and whether the enemy will be able to do the same.

Designed by the inimitable Ted Raicer and published by GMT Games, I’ve got some more playthroughs and after actions reports planned over the coming weeks. Great game to start off my summer of ACW goodness.
